I just added a bit more to chapter 29 where we had a guy from a local village come into our ambush site. This incident occurred near the village of Long Cat whereas I thought it occurred near the village of Phu My which is our destination for our next operation.
The reason for the delay in my writing is that I now have to check my facts. I will be dealing with incidents that occurred and form part of a history of the Vietnam War. Up until this time all I have written about is our lead up training where I simply relied on my memory (and a couple of phone calls to my mates).
Well memories can get into a bit of a muddle regards time and location.

You should be able to find those for your unit if you search AWM.

Interview members of your section, and compare recollections. Everyone has a different recall, so you may have to compare accounts, and where they agree, you can be reasonably sure of accuracy.
I was lucky enough to have access to my platoon commander. He died about a year after our last interview, which made me realise how important it is to write these things down.
Use letters, photos, etc if you have them.

I do have that 2RAR book and I also have a book written by our CO. I found errors in the CO's book and his war was a lot different to mine. He concentrates on the officers whereas officers don't get much of a mention in my book unless they were dickheads.
